teething business

Nathaniel is a teether. He now has at least 7 teeth, and possibly 8, though I can't tell for sure.

Over the weekend he had crazy fevers. When we ran out of regular baby Motrin, Carl got some dye-free stuff. Which sounds nice in theory, but every time we gave it to the baby, he barfed it up within ten minutes. So I ended up doing a million loads of laundry and getting, oh, maybe 10 hours of sleep in the past 4 days. The baby has been a total grouch and has refused to sleep until tonight--happy day, he's been asleep since 7 pm and hopefully will stay that way until 7 am or beyond. I'm ready for him to be a normal sleeper again.

It's been kind of funny, because these have been the first two days that he's been a real crier. He's always been such a mellow guy, mothering him has been a cinch. But when he's sleep-deprived, it makes him such a whiny grump, all he does is scream over stupid stuff that normally he doesn't care about. It definitely gave me some empathy for the mothers of screamers. So glad my baby is usually so chill.
